Our Mission

Altadena Surf Club was founded in the summer of 2024 by a core crew of surf-loving families—all mountain dwellers from Altadena, CA, just north of Pasadena. Throughout that summer, our kids (and their parents) made weekly pilgrimages to the beaches of Southern California to surf, laugh, and soak in the healing power of the ocean.

Then, in January 2025, the Eaton Fire tore through our tight-knit community—destroying homes, local businesses, and life as we knew it. Many of our founding families lost everything, including the surfboards and gear that had become symbols of joy and freedom.

But in true Altadena spirit, we came together—not just to rebuild, but to share. Today, Altadena Surf Club is a not-for-profit dedicated to bringing young ocean-lovers from our fire-affected mountain community back to the beach—at no cost to them.

We provide surfboards, wetsuits, transportation, and snacks to any Altadena kid who wants to ride the waves, reconnect with friends, and rediscover joy.

Our mission is funded through merch sales and made possible by generous donations from local partners like Val Surf, Aqua Surf, and others.

From the mountains to the ocean, we will heal—together.
